Last Epoch Campaign Skip Guide

Quick Answer

Campaign skipping uses dungeon exits rather than one completion button. Prepare the keys and a capable character, then check passive points, idol slots and other quest rewards your shortcut missed.

The Last Epoch skip campaign route uses dungeon shortcuts rather than a single button that grants a finished character. Lightless Arbor bypasses an early section into the Imperial Era, Soulfire Bastion exits toward Kolheim Pass in the Divine Era, and Temporal Sanctum sends you to Radiant Dunes near the start of Chapter 9. You still need to obtain the character-growth quest rewards your route missed.

For an alt with keys and usable leveling equipment, the shortcuts can reduce repeated story travel. For a new seasonal character, Season 5 also introduces one-shot dungeon-key caches, but those provide an opportunity to attempt each bypass, not a guarantee that the character can defeat its boss. Check passive points, idol slots, mastery, and faction access separately from your position in the campaign.

Decide which part of the campaign you want to bypass

Skipping can mean leaving the story for Monolith progression, shortening a middle section with one dungeon, or chaining several dungeons toward Chapter 9. These lead to different character states. Decide whether you need faster leveling, earlier faction access, or simply less repeated travel before choosing the route.

Monolith access becomes available after reaching the End of Time following Chapter 2 progression. Entering it early does not mean you have automatically collected all campaign passive points and idol slots. A character can have access to endgame content while still missing growth rewards that affect its build.

Choose the smallest shortcut that solves the current problem. Chaining every dungeon is unnecessary if you already have the waypoint or campaign access you need. A failed high-level dungeon can take more time and keys than continuing a short remaining story section.

Prepare keys and a character that can finish

The three dungeon keys are Lightless Arbor Key, Soulfire Bastion Key, and Temporal Sanctum Key. They are distinct items. Having one key does not unlock all three dungeons, and knowing a route does not replace the key needed for its entrance.

An alt can use keys and equipment prepared through its shared stash, subject to mode, level, class, and faction restrictions. Inspect a leveling item before transferring it into the plan. A powerful Legendary with a raised level requirement, or CoF equipment for a character with different faction access, may not be usable when you reach the shortcut.

Season 5 adds three one-shot caches with dungeon keys in out-of-the-way locations. Each offers a single chance to use the corresponding dungeon as a campaign bypass on a first seasonal or solo character. Do not plan unlimited attempts around a one-shot cache or assume it automatically awards the destination's quests.

Pick the lowest suitable dungeon tier for the shortcut while learning. The task is to finish the dungeon and use its exit, so increasing difficulty merely because a higher tier is unlocked can work against that purpose. A higher tier is relevant only when another reward or crafting goal also requires it.

If the character is underprepared, continue the campaign or gain levels and equipment through content it can reliably complete. An area level describes the content, not a promise that a character at a particular numerical level can finish it. Evaluate damage, recovery, movement, and ability to respond to boss mechanics together.

Use Lightless Arbor for the first bypass

Lightless Arbor is reached in the Ruined Era beyond the early Council Chambers portion of progression. The campaign approach includes the Surface and Shrouded Ridge route, where you can register its waypoint. Reaching the door is only the access step; the bypass requires completing the dungeon.

The route proceeds through Titan's Hollow and Titan's Rest. After the final reward area, the exit leads to the Corrupted Lake, which connects into the Imperial Era through the Risen Lake. This replaces part of the ordinary story journey between those eras.

At the destination, check which quests are actually complete. Passing through a time shortcut changes where you can travel; it does not establish that every skipped NPC conversation or reward has already been claimed. Register the waypoint and inspect your quest log before continuing toward another bypass.

The Corrupted Lake also appears in a campaign reward route. If you need its passive and idol rewards, complete and turn in the relevant objectives rather than treating the dungeon exit as the reward itself. The distinction prevents a fast route from quietly creating a weaker character.

Keep the original campaign available as a fallback. If the dungeon's cost or difficulty is unsuitable, the shortcut is optional. There is no need to make another character dependent on a route that you cannot currently finish.

Use Soulfire Bastion to reach the Divine Era

From the Risen Lake, travel toward the Felled Woods and Soulfire Bastion approach. Complete the dungeon, continue through Soulfire Keep and the Soulfire Furnace route, and use the exit into the Divine Era at Kolheim Pass, near Champion's Gate.

This bypass moves you past a substantial story section, but its destination is not the start of Chapter 9. Check the map and era before following directions intended for another dungeon exit. Soulfire Bastion and Temporal Sanctum perform different parts of the shortcut chain.

If you need more idol slots, nearby Chapter 7 reward quests can be useful. Liberating the Nomads and A Heoborean Cure provide examples of idol-reward opportunities along that portion of the campaign. Choose quests based on what your character still lacks, rather than copying a route that assumes all earlier rewards were completed.

Record useful waypoints as you move through the destination. They reduce later travel when you return for a missing reward or a different dungeon entrance. A short pause to register a waypoint can support the entire alt progression route without requiring you to finish every story quest around it.

Finish Temporal Sanctum for Chapter 9 access

Temporal Sanctum provides the shortcut to Radiant Dunes. Reach its entrance through Shining Cove in the Imperial Era, then Ruined Coast, the bridge, and Ortra'ek the Survivor. Register the Temporal Sanctum waypoint before choosing the dungeon attempt.

The dungeon's first tier is level-55 content. That is a useful warning about difficulty, not an automatic character-level lock or guaranteed readiness test. Use a functional build and learn Temporal Shift before expecting Julra to be a quick part of the leveling route.

Julra's clock explosion requires changing eras before it resolves. After she follows, place the resulting ground hazard near an edge and move away. If you cannot yet respond to those mechanics, the shortcut is likely to cost repeated keys rather than save time.

After completion, use the campaign exit toward Radiant Dunes. Continue to Maj'Elka Upper District and speak with Zerrick for the faction introduction. Visit the Observatory for Circle of Fortune or the Bazaar route for Merchant's Guild according to your equipment plan.

Opening Chapter 9 access does not force you to finish every remaining story boss immediately. It gives you the location and faction route. Decide the next action from missing rewards and gear progression instead of assuming the final chapter is mandatory for every character's next upgrade.

Preserve passive points and idol slots

Campaign reward progression includes up to 15 quest passive points and eight additional idol slots. There are more available reward quests than needed to reach those totals, so you do not have to complete every side quest. You do have to complete enough appropriate ones and claim their rewards.

Early examples include Storeroom Saboteurs, Evacuation, Armoury Aid, and the Upper District for passive progress, with Saving Last Refuge contributing idol progression. The Lesser Refuge provides two passive points, while An Ancient Hunt is an idol-reward opportunity. These can matter when an early shortcut passes quests that a standard campaign route would already have completed.

Later options include the Corrupted Lake, the Admiral's Dreadnought, and the Sapphire Tablet, which combine passive or idol rewards along practical travel routes. Their value depends on what you already claimed. A quest listed as skippable in a full campaign route may become relevant when your dungeon route bypassed other rewards.

Check the actual reward counter or quest state before leaving the campaign. Do not count a completed area, defeated miniboss, or registered waypoint as equivalent to a reward turn-in. Returning to the NPC can be the difference between having fulfilled an objective and having the passive point available to allocate.

If you are missing only one category, target that category. An additional passive-only quest does not fill the idol grid, and an idol reward does not replace a missing passive point. Keeping the two counts separate prevents unnecessary travel and makes the remaining route clear.

Apply the Season 5 attribute-reward change

The quests for defeating Majasa and The Observer no longer award one to all attributes each. The quest for gathering five Knowledge of Orobyss now gives two to all attributes, and The Observer's quest awards one passive point.

This changes a common reason to return to late story content. Do not finish Majasa solely because an old route says her quest grants the attribute bonus. Choose that encounter for your actual quest or progression goal, then pursue the Knowledge of Orobyss reward separately when that bonus is the task.

The Observer's passive-point reward also belongs in the correct reward checklist. Moving an attribute bonus elsewhere does not mean every quest attached to the former route became irrelevant. Inspect the current reward you still need rather than applying an all-or-nothing decision to the old route.

Dungeon shortcuts do not grant the moved attribute reward automatically. Completing Temporal Sanctum establishes the exit and Cache access; it does not mean you gathered five Knowledge of Orobyss. Keep the new objective separate from the route you used to enter Chapter 9.

Troubleshoot a fast route that stalls

If the dungeon door will not start the intended run, inspect the exact key and entrance. If the route becomes too difficult, identify whether the problem is ordinary enemies, resource exhaustion, or the boss's required mechanic. Continuing the campaign or preparing better gear can be faster than retrying an unresolved failure.

If you arrive in a later chapter but the character feels weak, compare quest passives and idol slots with the intended totals. Then check equipment requirements and specialized skills. A shortcut can expose a missing reward or an unfinished skill setup without being the cause of a broken mechanic.

If faction access is the remaining blocker, go to Maj'Elka Upper District and complete the introduction with Zerrick. Arriving at Radiant Dunes is a travel milestone, while joining the faction is a separate conversation and location step. Complete that step before counting faction equipment or Prophecy rewards in the build.

End the skip route when the character has the access and growth rewards needed for its next activity. Use Monoliths, targeted reward quests, or another dungeon according to the remaining blocker. The fastest useful route is the one that leaves a functional character with the right access, not merely one standing in the latest chapter with unfinished progression.
