Last Epoch Void Knight Build

Quick Answer

Keep Rive while leveling, then transition when your next route has its mana, recovery and equipment support. Warpath and Void Radiant Lance need separate setups; Paladin planners are not interchangeable.

On this page

Start with Rive while leveling, then move to a sustained Warpath setup when its mana and Void Essence engine works with your equipment. If you want a spellcaster instead, Radiant Lance has a void-conversion branch, but it needs a different skill and gearing plan. A Paladin Radiant Lance planner does not become a Void Knight build simply because it spends a few points in the Void Knight tree.

This route comparison includes the official 1.5.3 changes. The linked creator setups describe their own Season 5 configurations; their advertised damage or Corruption ceiling is not a guarantee for your character.

Pick the damage engine before spending on gear

RouteChoose it whenCheck before changing over
Rive levelingYou are progressing through the campaign or still gathering endgame equipmentKeep a useful two-handed weapon, recovery and movement; develop the void conversion and support skills as they become available
Warrior's Fury WarpathYou want a moving melee channel for MonolithsEstablish maximum mana, Reduced Channel Cost, Void Well and a working source of Void Essences before increasing the channel's cost
Void Radiant LanceYou want to build around a void spell and its direct-cast or Reliquary behaviorUnlock Radiant Lance through the accessible Paladin tree, choose Abyssal Heresy and rebuild around the converted skill; verify each direct/indirect trigger

These are separate configurations. Mixing the most attractive weapon, passive and support skill from each can leave you with no complete resource or damage loop. Select the main skill first, then use its actual damage type and trigger conditions to judge upgrades.

Keep Rive until the replacement is functional

The Rive leveling route begins with a two-handed melee attack, adds recovery through Healing Hands and develops Void Knight support. Foe Cleaver supports the weapon arrangement, while Temporal Warrior supplies the void conversion. That route can continue into early Monoliths while you collect later equipment.

The useful transition point is when the new setup works in combat. Reaching a planner's level does not supply a missing weapon or affix. Keep your working Rive equipment while preparing the replacement, and preserve a movement option until its successor has the necessary nodes.

Do not import Paladin-exclusive support into this character. In Season 5, Symbols of Hope sits deeper in the Paladin tree; an older Void Knight screenshot or guide that still depends on it needs revision. Accessible Paladin skills and choosing Paladin mastery are different decisions.

Move to Warpath after its mana loop is ready

The Warrior's Fury configuration ramps its channel's damage and area while increasing its resource burden. A longer uninterrupted channel is useful only when the resource loop can support it.

The detailed Warpath setup follows Volca’s Warrior’s Fury configuration, using World Splitter, maximum mana and a helmet with Reduced Channel Cost. Its starting recommendations include roughly 500 mana and a Tier 5 or better channel-cost affix. Those are targets for that guide's configuration, not a universal requirement to use Warpath or proof that every Warrior's Fury allocation will sustain at that point.

The important dependency is Devouring Orb → Void Essences → Void Well recovery. In the selected setup, movement enables automatic Orb casts; the Orbs then provide the resource needed by the recovery engine. Keep Warrior's Fury investment conservative until that loop remains stable through an ordinary fight.

Babbling Bike’s example Devouring Orb tree includes three levels from equipment. It illustrates an equipped configuration; use Volca’s linked planner for the exact allocation of the Warpath route described above.

Use this short transition check:

  1. Equip the intended weapon and channel-cost helmet without stripping out your defensive coverage.
  2. Confirm that Void Well and the selected Void Essence source are allocated.
  3. Verify that automatic Devouring Orb casts actually occur while moving.
  4. Channel through a durable enemy and watch whether recovery keeps pace.
  5. Reduce Warrior's Fury investment if the channel repeatedly stalls, then improve the missing resource support before adding points back.

Anomaly supplies active boss support in this version. Its relevant effects depend on the chosen nodes and, for Mark of Rot, connecting with the enemy. Do not mistake the presence of a support skill in the bar for all of its conditions being active.

Babbling Bike's Season 5 Warpath guide is a creator example, rather than a universal Void Knight specification. Its older references to Symbols of Hope should not be carried into a current Void Knight plan.

Treat Void Radiant Lance as a separate caster project

Radiant Lance unlocks after 15 points in the Paladin passive tree. Its default version requires a shield; Cloudless Sky can remove that requirement while replacing its block-based damage bonus with maximum-mana scaling. Choose which version you are building before purchasing a shield or copying a staff setup.

The official Season 5 Abyssal Heresy node changes more than the beam's color:

  • Its base lightning damage becomes void, so that base damage uses void rather than lightning increases.
  • Electrify chance becomes Time Rot chance, and lightning resistance shred becomes void resistance shred.
  • Lightning penetration granted within Radiant Lance's tree becomes void penetration.
  • Its normal Attunement damage scaling is replaced with added void spell damage from Vitality.
  • Divine Essence interactions within the skill tree instead use Void Essences.

Those changes come from the official Season 5 skill description. They establish a supported conversion, not a finished shopping list or a minimum Corruption result. Do not copy the Attunement, lightning or fire priorities of a different creator configuration without checking what your selected nodes still scale.

Golden Reliquary is another decision. It changes your input into placing a device that casts for you. Those casts use your character's stats rather than generic minion stats, but remain indirect. A bonus that explicitly requires you to directly use a skill still needs its stated condition.

A Paladin overview is useful for understanding Radiant Lance's alternative branches. Its Holy Aura, Symbols of Hope and deep Paladin passives do not provide a ready-to-copy Void Knight support package.

Recheck echo assumptions after 1.5.3

The official 1.5.3 notes clarify that inherent echo chance applies to direct skill uses. EHG describes the Void Knight wording adjustment as a clarification, so it should not be read as a new blanket nerf to every echo build.

Radiant Lance received specific behavior changes. Void-converted casts from Reliquaries can now echo. When a direct cast creates a Reliquary, the resulting echoes fire Radiant Lance instead of making additional Reliquaries. Reliquary-caused echoes also no longer spend Volatile Reversal's guaranteed echo or receive its repeat-echo behavior.

Apply those precise rules when reviewing a caster setup. They do not mean that every automatic cast of every skill can now echo, or that an older Reliquary damage demonstration measures the updated interaction.
