This Last Epoch Radiant Lance build follows one configuration: BlueBeyond's lightning Monolith Paladin, supported by direct Smite, Holy Aura, Symbols of Hope and Healing Hands. Radiant Lance spreads lightning and triggers Smite across packs; direct Smite supplies single-target damage and restores mana. The build deliberately fights with missing mana because Devotion turns that missing mana into added Smite damage.
Open the author's lightning planner alongside this page. The written guide and full configuration video belong to the same author. His separate fire bossing and Golden Reliquary configurations use different trees and equipment; their upgrades are not part of this lightning setup.
| Configuration | Choice on this page |
|---|---|
| Base class and mastery | Sentinel → Paladin |
| Main damage | Lightning Radiant Lance for coverage; lightning Smite for hits |
| Five specializations | Radiant Lance, Smite, Symbols of Hope, Holy Aura, Healing Hands |
| Essential full-build engine | Spirit Xylem staff, Devotion amulet and a functioning direct-Smite recovery loop |
| Primary use | Monolith clearing with a mana-stacking endgame transition |
| Evidence | Author guide, planner and gameplay; the wiki has not game-tested this configuration |
The author reports taking the lightning version to roughly 700 corruption before changing to a boss configuration. That is his reported result, not a minimum entry requirement or a result independently reproduced here. His Uber results belong to the separately adjusted boss setup. Author overview and variant boundaries.
Start when the engine is ready
BlueBeyond does not recommend this route before level 60. Having Radiant Lance unlocked alone does not provide the staff's defenses, enough specialization levels or a useful missing-mana damage pool. Continue a working Sentinel leveling build until the following stages are possible.
| Stage | Equipment and skills | Gate before moving on |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign / before Spirit Xylem | A wand and catalyst are the author's temporary alternative; prioritize spell damage, cast speed, health and resistances | Keep a skill tree that your current specialization levels can support; a finished planner is not a level-one allocation |
| Normal Monolith transition | Obtain Spirit Xylem; add Devotion to establish missing-mana Smite scaling; use rare health, mana and Attunement gear | Radiant Lance can spend mana, direct Smite can replenish it, and normal encounters do not force constant potion use |
| Empowered Monolith configuration | The planner's lightning trees; Titan Heart; mana and Attunement on ordinary slots; crit mitigation, armor and resistance coverage | Sustain repeated packs and a longer boss fight with a positive mana reserve before increasing corruption |
| Expensive endgame upgrades | Better mana rolls and legendary affixes; Phantom Grip rolls; levels of Smite on Twisted Heart | Preserve the recovery loop and defensive affixes when replacing a rare; LP itself is not a working build |
These stage gates combine the author's leveling alternative and item engine with practical checks derived from that engine. They are not invented corruption breakpoints. The original guide lists large mana totals for its boss variant; copying those numbers does not validate the lightning mapper for that encounter. Leveling and endgame source.
Skill nodes: use the lightning trees together
The linked planner has equipment-granted skill levels: Radiant Lance 24, Smite 29, Symbols of Hope 20, Holy Aura 20 and Healing Hands 24 in the authored guide. A fresh 20-point specialization cannot reproduce every branch. Compare the total level first, then follow the planner's connections. The table below names the interaction nodes instead of pretending that isolated point counts form a complete tree.
| Skill | Nodes and confirmed points | Function in this configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Radiant Lance | Cloudless Sky, Dominion of the Sky, Cloudburst; Eagle's Foot 1/1; Blessed Rain 3 points in the video | Replace shield-oriented scaling with mana scaling, spread the lightning cast, and trigger Smite during clear |
| Smite | Order of Lagon and Unbalanced Scales for the lightning route; Deep Impact 4/4; Pillars of Light 3 points in the video | Keep Smite in the same damage conversion as the mapper; improve its hit damage and critical multiplier |
| Symbols of Hope | Tetragram / Polygram route; Empowering Symbols 4 points, Heavenly Justice 5 points in the video | Maintain passive support without repeatedly spending mana to activate Symbols |
| Holy Aura | Purification, Fanaticism, True Strike and Extreme Zeal; Rahyeh's Devotion 2 points, Rahyeh's Fury 2 points in the video | Supply passive support and crit-related bonuses while keeping the chosen tree's resource behavior |
| Healing Hands | Rahyeh's Chariot; the movement and invulnerability path shown in the planner | Provide a deliberate escape rather than another damage button to spam |
The written guide directly exposes Eagle's Foot and Deep Impact counts. The other numbered rows are transcribed from the author's skill walkthrough and should be checked against his interactive planner when your available levels differ. Unlisted connecting and remainder allocations are not confirmed in this text; the complete saved planner is the allocation reference. Written skill sections, author's skill walkthrough.
Keep Golden Reliquary out of this version. The lightning video explains a direct-cast mapper, while the alternate boss route uses different Reliquary and conversion choices. A Reliquary casting Radiant Lance for you does not establish the same trigger, mana-spending or coverage loop as the configuration above.
Passive priorities and point boundaries
Time and Faith 5/5 is the directly documented recovery allocation: direct Smite restores mana while Radiant Lance spends it. The video discusses adjusting that investment when recovery is excessive, but the reproducible written configuration uses five. Start there and test the loop before making a resource change.
The author's video also specifies Conviction 8, Defiance 8, Dedication 10, Holy Precision 10, Divine Essence 5 and Reverence of Duality 5 among the Paladin investments. These support the chosen spell, Attunement and defense package. They are selected confirmed walkthrough counts, not a complete passive leveling order. Copy connecting allocations from the same planner; do not borrow a different author's shield or Electrify tree merely because it also says Radiant Lance.
Required items and replacements
| Slot / item | Why the author uses it | Replacement boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Spirit Xylem two-handed staff | Adds important skill levels, converts Attunement into health and mana, and grants damage reduction below half mana | Wand + catalyst is the author's early alternative; it does not reproduce the staff's full defensive package |
| Devotion amulet | Converts missing mana into Smite base damage | An ordinary amulet can keep an earlier character functional, but it removes the defining missing-mana engine |
| Titan Heart body armor | Its two-handed-weapon damage reduction fits the staff setup | A rare can cover health and resistances during assembly; do not count Titan Heart's reduction while wearing it |
| Phantom Grip rings | Seek the player spell/crit and mana rolls used by this Paladin | Rare rings with mana, Attunement, needed crit and defensive suffixes are an interim option; a minion variant is a different item package |
| Twisted Heart of Uhkeiros relic | Supplies the authored health/ward interaction and useful skill levels; +Smite is a legendary aspiration | Use a defensive rare relic while assembling gear, then reassess ward generation; Shattered Worlds is the author's expensive alternative |
| Rare helmet, boots and belt | Attunement, mana, health, movement and ailment cleansing | These are functional slots, not empty spaces waiting for uniques |
| Grasp of the Blood Mage gloves | Included in the written lightning gear list, with cast speed as the LP target | Preserve cast speed and defensive coverage on an interim rare; an alternate fire build's gloves are not interchangeable |
The guide's written gear list is the source for these items. Spirit Xylem and Devotion define the full route; other listed uniques improve or complete the author's configuration, with rare substitutes explicitly losing their special effects. Slot-by-slot equipment source.
For rare upgrades, prioritize Attunement and mana, then the specific crit or cast-speed affix missing from your setup. Add armor shred on hit and keep health, resistance coverage and critical-strike mitigation. A maximum-mana increase helps only if you can still recover enough mana and keep attacking; a sheet with a large pool and no recovery is unfinished.
The guide explains that crit chance, crit multiplier, base damage, cast speed and armor shred work together. Do not chase one perfect offensive roll while leaving another part at zero. Its armor-shred example is a useful check on whether the effect exists, not permission to sacrifice every defense for more stacks.
Effusive Oath's physical conversion is a different configuration. Do not swap it into this lightning planner and expect lightning penetration, conversion nodes and existing support affixes to retain the same purpose. Treat the unique catalog as an item comparison, then rebuild and verify the whole conversion package before using it.
Blessings and idols
Use the author's lightning written-guide blessing set rather than a nearby build's elemental list.
| Timeline | Selected blessing | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| The Black Sun | Grand Hunger of the Void | The author's chosen recovery blessing |
| Ending the Storm | Grand Light of the Moon | Mana; the guide identifies this as the most valuable blessing for the damage engine |
| Reign of Dragons | Grand Resolve of Humanity | Resistance coverage |
| The Age of Winter | Grand Bulwark of the Tundra | Increased armor |
| Spirits of Fire | Grand Body of Obsidian | Flat armor |
The written guide uses four Large Rahyeh Idols with increased damage with Vengeance and Smite prefixes and its listed armor-shred suffix. It recommends an Impervious Altar arrangement and improved prefix effect. Use remaining idol space to fix resistances. Check whether a conditional suffix activates in the actual lightning tree before replacing a useful defensive idol with it. Exact idol and blessing list.
Rotation and mana reserve
- Keep Holy Aura and Symbols of Hope on the action bar. In this selected configuration the author leaves both passive; do not activate them as routine rotation buttons.
- Cast Radiant Lance through the pack. Let the chosen trigger path distribute Smite hits.
- As mana falls, use direct Smite and Time and Faith to maintain a positive reserve. The written guide describes switching at around 100 remaining mana; the video demonstrates a larger reserve during its earlier gearing. These are author operating examples, not a universal breakpoint for every pool.
- Use Healing Hands for its invulnerable movement when a dangerous attack demands it. Return to the spell loop from a safe location.
Devotion wants missing mana, and Spirit Xylem wants you below half mana for its listed reduction. Neither asks you to hit zero. A useful target is a repeatable band below half mana with enough reserve for the next cast and escape. Test that band in a normal Echo first; change one recovery affix or Time and Faith investment at a time.
Fix the failure before adding damage
| Symptom | Check first | Practical correction |
|---|---|---|
| Mana reaches zero and the character stops | Direct Smite recovery, Time and Faith, spell costs and the reserve at which you switch | Smite earlier; restore the documented recovery allocation; lower content difficulty while testing |
| Mana stays full but damage feels weak | Devotion equipped; mana spending; unwanted recovery drowning the missing-mana window | Confirm the item and spend/recover loop before removing defenses for damage |
| Packs clear but the boss survives | Smite lightning conversion, crit package, armor shred and direct casts | Reproduce the same skill tree; inspect missing offensive categories instead of copying the fire variant's items |
| A rare replacement suddenly feels fragile | Lost staff or Titan Heart effects, reduced health, armor, crit mitigation or uncapped resistance | Compare effects slot by slot; restore the missing layer before pushing corruption |
| Planner skill nodes do not fit | Your actual skill level is below the author's 24/29-point trees | Keep a playable partial tree and acquire the required levels; do not silently omit an engine node |
These checks are derived from the documented interaction, not a claim that one gear total guarantees survival. An invulnerable movement skill still has timing and positioning constraints.
Patch review and evidence
Reviewed on October 11, 2026 against official 1.5.2.1. The hotfix contains Dreamslash behavior, Tide Elemental VFX and corrupted-variant item fixes; it does not report a Radiant Lance performance retest. If you use a corrupted Unsated Rage upgrade, its retained variant modifiers are relevant to that fix. Official hotfix.
No author-provided loot-filter XML accompanies this written guide. The same planner offers filter generation; inspect the generated rules against the rare affixes and early substitutes above before hiding drops.
