For a Season 5 Last Epoch Void Knight leveling build, start with Rive and a two-handed weapon, add Lunge for early movement, then develop Healing Hands and the Void Knight support skills. This gives you a practical leveling route before committing to a mana-intensive Warpath configuration. Rive can remain the main attack through the campaign and into early Monoliths while you collect the equipment for a later transition.
Warpath is available early and can be used while leveling, but the Season 5 Warrior's Fury setup is a separate equipment-dependent destination. Do not copy its sustained-channel configuration onto a new character without the mana pool, channel-cost reduction and Void Well engine needed to support it.
Establish Rive before adding expensive support
Begin with Rive as the main attack and keep replacing your weapon with suitable upgrades. A two-handed weapon works with Foe Cleaver, an important Rive node for this route. Reach that interaction before rushing every later void conversion and support effect.
Temporal Warrior converts Rive's physical damage to void. Once the conversion is active, plan offensive upgrades around the resulting damage rather than continuing to evaluate the attack as an unchanged physical skill. Read the current skill tooltip and conversion text when changing nodes so the equipment plan follows what the skill actually does.
Lunge provides the initial movement option. Its additional-charge and protective traversal options can make it useful during the early campaign. Keep movement available when approaching dangerous packs instead of spending it automatically every time the cooldown ends.
A simple early sequence is to move into a safe attack position, use Rive against the target, and leave when an attack requires it. The main attack does not need the full collection of later support skills to begin functioning. That is a useful difference from a final planner whose damage and defenses assume every interaction is already active.
Add Healing Hands without changing mastery
After investing twenty points in the Sentinel base tree, the progression can take the accessible Paladin passives needed to unlock Healing Hands. This does not require selecting Paladin as your mastery. Choose Void Knight for the character's eventual mastery and use the accessible supporting skill as part of that route.
Healing Hands can be configured through Cleric's Hammer to trigger from melee attacks. Its traversal configuration uses Rahyeh's Chariot and Sun Strider. Make the transition away from Lunge only once the relevant Healing Hands setup is ready to perform the movement job you need.
The point of the combination is practical: Rive keeps the attack loop moving while Healing Hands contributes recovery and supporting damage. Configure the mana-cost reduction and trigger interaction before assuming that the skill will support uninterrupted melee play.
During a respec, check both the specialization tree and the action bar. Having a skill unlocked is different from having it specialized for the intended trigger and traversal behavior. If the movement replacement is unfinished, retain a working movement option until the new tree catches up.
Avoid planning around Symbols of Hope on this Void Knight. Season 5 places that skill deeper in the Paladin tree as a Paladin-exclusive option. Abyssal Echoes is the supporting replacement used here; an older setup that still depends on Symbols of Hope needs revision before it can serve as a current leveling plan.
Build a coherent void support package
| Skill | Job | Key interaction to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Rive | Main melee attack | Foe Cleaver, then Temporal Warrior |
| Healing Hands | Recovery and later traversal | Cleric's Hammer and the movement configuration |
| Abyssal Echoes | Support against durable targets | Embrace the Darkness and Myopia |
| Devouring Orb | Void support and Void Essences | Dark Moon, Void Adept and Abyssal Juggernaut |
| Anomaly | Boss support and Time Bubble | Time Bubble and Mark of Rot |
Abyssal Echoes applies the supporting effects used with Embrace the Darkness. Myopia supplies the blind interaction. Use it against durable enemies where the benefit has time to matter, rather than adding another repeated cast to every trivial pack.
Devouring Orb can orbit the character through Dark Moon and use an automatic movement-based arrangement. Abyssal Juggernaut contributes Void Essences. On the Rive route, those essences are a damage-support resource; Rive itself does not need the same sustained-channel mana engine as Warpath.
Anomaly should hit the target when you are using Mark of Rot. Casting it without connecting with the boss does not establish the same offensive condition. Maintain Time Bubble while respecting the arena's dangerous attacks, and return to Rive after the support sequence is established.
Choose equipment for the current damage engine
During early leveling, use a suitable two-handed weapon with relevant melee damage and keep its base competitive with the content you are entering. After Temporal Warrior, added melee void damage is a natural offensive priority. Melee attack speed and useful critical-strike support become additional considerations as the character develops.
Ignite chance can support Flame Drinker's Blade in the Rive setup. The node consumes ignite stacks for penetration, and its conversion text matters when Rive has become void. This is an example of a stat being useful through a specific skill interaction, rather than because the entire build is an ignite damage-over-time build.
For armor and accessories, prioritize health and resistance coverage. Physical resistance is especially helpful during the campaign. Vitality, useful health affixes and supporting item bases can improve the character before any chase unique appears. Gloves with melee attack speed are another practical offensive upgrade when the defensive setup remains intact.
Bleeding Heart is a helpful recovery option if it drops, but it is not a required starting item. Its spell-casting drawback matters when the character uses frequent spells, so read the whole item rather than equipping it only for the visible leech line. Phantom Grip and Darkstride are optional progression items; neither should become a reason to stop leveling until a specific drop appears.
Keep health recovery and movement functional
A melee leveling character needs to recover between hits, not simply display a larger health pool. Review how Healing Hands, leech and potions work in the current configuration. If health only returns while you are attacking, create a plan for boss phases that force you to move away.
World Eater is a Void Knight recovery option when the equipment does not supply the needed leech. Take recovery seriously before adding another offensive layer. A character repeatedly retreating to wait for potions is losing damage uptime as well as time.
Use resistances and health on ordinary gear while collecting the later items. An idol that fills a resistance gap is useful during leveling even if it does not match the aspirational damage layout. Your available idol space also grows through campaign rewards, so a finished idol arrangement is not an early equipment requirement.
Movement matters because Rive is a close-range attack. Keep Lunge functional until Healing Hands is configured to replace it. If you later use Void Cleave for traversal, check its weapon and node requirements before removing the previous option. A skill name in the action bar does not establish its desired movement behavior.
When a boss telegraphs a dangerous attack, stop attacking and move. Triggered healing supports the attack loop, but it does not make every mechanic safe to absorb. Re-establish the support effects and resume Rive once the arena offers another workable window.
Treat Warpath as a separate transition
The Season 5 Warpath destination uses Warrior's Fury to ramp damage and area while the channel's mana burden increases. Void Well is mandatory for that configuration, and Devouring Orb supplies the Void Essences needed by the mana engine. Maximum mana increases the value of the percentage-based recovery.
World Splitter, substantial maximum mana and Reduced Channel Cost on the helmet are important equipment considerations. The guide configuration recommends World Splitter, tier-five-or-higher Reduced Channel Cost and more than five hundred mana as a starting direction. These are progression recommendations, not a promise that every allocation can channel indefinitely at those values.
The number of Warrior's Fury points must suit the actual mana setup. If the channel stops because the bar empties, reduce that investment until resources support it. Copying the maximum allocation before reaching the corresponding gear is a predictable way to make a functioning character uncomfortable.
World Splitter's per-mana-cost effects use the skill's mana cost; channel cost is not counted for that bonus. Do not estimate the weapon's benefit by treating the growing channel expenditure as the same statistic. Also remember that Echo Knight's echoes do not gain the Warrior's Fury benefit. Those distinctions matter when comparing upgrades and reading an endgame planner.
Use the Warpath resource check before switching
Before replacing Rive, equip the intended starting gear and inspect the mana pool and helmet. A high damage weapon without channel-cost support can still leave you stopping repeatedly. Keep the Rive equipment available until the replacement completes normal attack cycles comfortably.
Check the support loop in this order:
- Confirm Void Well is allocated for the Warrior's Fury configuration.
- Confirm Devouring Orb can provide Void Essences through the selected nodes.
- Make sure the movement-based automatic casting condition is active.
- Start with a conservative Warrior's Fury allocation.
- Channel through ordinary combat while monitoring recovery cycles.
- Add investment only when the bar remains manageable through the full support routine.
For bossing, connect Anomaly with the enemy to activate Mark of Rot, and maintain Time Bubble. Keep moving when the Echo Knight setup requires movement to generate echoes. Remaining stationary simply because you are still channeling can leave part of the selected configuration inactive.
If the mana setup is unfinished, continue leveling with Rive. Character level sixty or eighty does not itself supply the missing affix or weapon. Transition when the replacement works, rather than when a planner's level label says it should be ready.
Diagnose the leveling blocker before respeccing
For weak Rive damage, inspect the weapon, Foe Cleaver interaction and Temporal Warrior conversion first. Then check whether offensive affixes apply to the actual converted attack. Adding unrelated spell damage or damage-over-time stats is unlikely to fix a melee-hit setup without an interaction that uses them.
For deaths, inspect health, resistance coverage and recovery before changing the whole damage plan. If the problem occurs while moving away, your attack-triggered recovery may be absent in that window. If it occurs after adding support spells, check whether the new routine creates a resource or recovery drawback.
For Warpath mana stalls, confirm Void Essences and Void Well, then reduce Warrior's Fury to suit the gear. Additional maximum mana and Reduced Channel Cost are direct upgrades for that constraint. Automatically casting extra support without the resources to sustain it can make the problem worse rather than more complete.
Before entering normal Monoliths, verify the fifteen campaign passive-point rewards and eight idol slots available to the character. Keep a working rotation, movement option and defensive plan. The successful endpoint of this leveling route is a stable Void Knight with a clear next upgrade, whether that means continuing Rive or moving into Warpath after its resource engine is ready.
